Paul de Haas born in 1962. He is a full time cabinetmaker in his own workshop. www.pauldehaas.com He is paddling the oceans for almost 16 years and made several trips all over Europe.Paul is an instructor 3 sea kayaking. We don’t have the star classification but it'll be BCU Level 3 coach with BCU 4 and BCU 5 star leader award. Marian Makelaar born in 1964. She is infected with the sea kayaking virus by Paul. But before that her grandfather never stopped telling her about his kayak trips. So it maybe a genetic thing. Anyway she is paddling for about ten years.
Marian is working as a nurse in hospital, mostly assisting women in labor. In her few moments of spare time left you find her in her pottery. She is also a qualified ceramist. But most of the time she’s out paddling with Paul. Paul and Marian are based in Cornjum, a small village in the north of the Netherlands. This is about 20km from the Wadden Sea. This sea connect the Dutch islands with the mainland and is under the influence of the tide. That make's it a special place to paddle. Never the same always' different.Paul and Marian are both members of the "Onder de Wadden" canoe association based in Franeker. Moreover they also paddle a lot with "Peddelpraat". For both organizations Paul leads several trips.
