Private island

Today we could paddle again. We have to because otherwise we are running out of time. Today started good. Beautiful weather hardly any wind. We had our almost final crossing to do the Vopnafjordur. Again 30 km sea ahead. As always the wind was picking up and against us so it went not that quick anymore as we wanted. We reached our destination on time. We wanted to camp on a small island with a lighthouse called Bjarnarey. As we came there I was surrounded by 20 seals not looking very happy but curious enough to come real close to the kayak. Don’t think they see that often. We decided to go on shore somewhere else and leave them alone. At the other side of the Island there where many puffins and eider ducks breeding. There was a small house but not really a camp site we nearly wanted to leave but Paul made a phone call to Sverrer from Ytra Lón if he knew to owner. Sverrer did and we where aloud to spend the night in the small hut, if we kept it proper of course. We will and many thanks to the owner. In the meantime I think all the birdwatchers in Holland are jealous of my view now it is wonderful and all the nest holes from Puffins in the ground it is amazing.

Tomorrow we go to Bakkagerdie to get our food drop. Then we have something else to eat then chicken curry or rice sate. That was the only taste left from our supply

The photo is from our Island and for the first time in 5 weeks it is raining we are lucky to sit inside
Good night to you all
Paul and Marian

Luxe zo’n eigen eiland en de papagaaiduiker is een ontzettend leuke vogel! Zaterdag ga ik naar Schotland voor een kayaktocht en kan jullie dan helaas een tijdje niet volgen. Veel succes. Groetjes Elbrich
